Re: SageCat cruise report

Noel, yes the 13 lb Mantus did fit in the cockpit locker completely bolted together. I realize that this anchor, along with the beefy swivel, 30' of heavy chain and 150' of rode are complete overkill for such a tiny boat, but when it comes to ground tackle I'm all about overkill. The anchor would si...

Re: Heaving to and reefing a Sagecat

That was also a concern of mine but so far I have not had that happen. One effect I noted of the behavior of sagecat when "parked" is that the luffing full batten Main seems to act as a riding sail of sorts, keeping the boat from rolling violently in chops and waves. I have only practiced this in th...

Heaving to and reefing a Sagecat

One of my concerns when purchasing my Sagecat was in a catboat’s ability to heave to in a stable manner since much of my sailing is done singlehanded. I had read various things from owners of a variety of catboats and some had trouble getting their cats to heave to very well. The reasons for this se...

Re: SageCat cruise report

Hi, I'd be happy to jump in on this thread. Im Cody and am the writer of the cruise report. Dave walked me through a few different ways to tension the rig. Basically each of the shrouds and the forestay are Johnson Marine hardware adjusters that are adjusted by moving a cotter pin, no turnbuckles. T...

Re: Sage Marine Visit

Hi Sal,
Thanks for the update. Haven't heard much lately on the progress. So are these production boats ones for customers or further prototypes? Glad to hear all your inspections and permits passed! Congrats!

Annapolis show updates?

I'm sure you guys have been busy at the Annapolis boat show this last week but could you post an update and/or some pictures of the show? The blog and Facebook page have basically been silent for the last two weeks and I can't wait for some news! Also, how about a short summary of your high wind sai...

I'm not too far away. I live in southeast Washington and sail (mostly kiteboard in my time between owning sailboats) in the eastern Columbia River gorge. I would be thrilled to meet up with you and see/sail the boat in person! Let me know what regattas you are planning on attending and I'll make one...

Thanks for the update again Jerry! Too bad there wasn't a bit more wind for the races for you all. Do you feel like you've found a good mast base placement to work from at this point in terms of balance? I'm excited to see pictures and hear of future reports on helm feel and performance of this fine...
