Re: Questions for Jerry Montgomery

Thanks for the reply Jerry, From what I can see, I believe that the foredeck does have a double layer of coring and all build details on he boat appear to be rock solid. Sage seems to not cut corners in build quality. I never have any excessive sag or slack on the side shrouds. I can bang upwind ove...

Re: Questions for Jerry Montgomery

Hello again Jerry, I have a question about the standing rigging on my sagecat. To give you an idea about my current setup, I have the mast raked aft just a bit and the rig tension is fairly tight. The lever on the forestay is nice and snug and requires a bit of a push to get it into position to be p...

Re: Another maintenance question.

The chafe seems a bit strange to me too Noel. I have the same boat and have trailered it over 3000 miles since I picked it up. Some of these were longer trips (600 ish miles to the San Juans and back home) but many have been the 75 mile round trip to my local launching ramp on the Columbia river and...

Re: Questions for Jerry Montgomery

Hi Jerry, I'm slowly optimizing my Sagecat for my sailing purposes. I just finished installing a basic electrical system much like the one that Dave Scobie installed on a sage 15 while he was working for them, so the battery is secured in the port side storage compartment under the v berth right nex...

Re: Questions for Jerry Montgomery

Hi Jerry, sorry for the novice question but when you speak of the forward bulkhead you are referring to the one forward of the keel trunk, about half way way through the v berth, right? Am I correct that in this forward most space is where the battery weight would best be placed?

Re: cockpit tent

Hi Sal, I haven't tried this tent setup yet for myself. I'm considering picking up one of these tents to give it a try on my SageCat this summer in the San Juans. The SageCat has been a fantastic little cruising boat the past two summers for my wife and I (and our dog). I have lucked out with near p...

Re: cockpit tent

A guy named wayne martin posted a pretty slick looking cockpit tent that seems to work rather easily on the montgomery sailboats facebook group page. it is a blackthorn 2 tube tent that seems to set up pretty easily and with minimal modifications and the tent is around 85 bucks on amazon. It could w...
